Newsletter Issue 3 Jan 2021
We are pleased to share the third edition of our quarterly global newsletter from the ECID programme which looks back on a busy time in 2020.
In August and September, the Myanmar team launched the programme in Kachin and Kayin States and in October ran a successful campaign about inclusion in elections.
The Nigeria team highlighted the issue of access to education for girls to mark International Literacy Day in September and in October launched a weekly radio show ‘ECID Hour’ to provide a platform for marginalised communities to present their challenges to service providers. In October, the Zimbabwe team had some great success in mobilising construction of a health clinic and improved water infrastructure in Mutare which will transform the lives of many women, children and people with disabilities.
We were also delighted to launch our community reporter network in November. ECID member On Our Radar worked with local partners and country teams in Nigeria and Zimbabwe to train representative from marginalised communities in basic journalistic skills to build a network of community reporters. There are now 37 reporters in Zimbabwe and 100 reporters in Nigeria who are giving us direct insight into issues in accessing services for them and their communities.
We hope you will enjoy reading about all of this, and more.
